Technology and knowledge: safer and more motivating spaces
Going to work knowing that it is a safe environment, where all the necessary measures are taken to safeguard people's health and ensure their physical and emotional well-being is one of the intangible values of any workplace.
Ergonomic furniture, workspace conditions, controlling social density, social distancing measures, as well as occupancy levels, are issues that companies must address for the peace of mind and well-being of employees.
This is why fostering the safety and comfort of office spaces also results in greater motivation, which is of the utmost importance, as employees lie at the heart of any company.
Gaia by Actiu® is Actiu's response to these new requirements. It is a smart platform that allows all these parameters to be measured and monitored, providing companies with relevant information in the form of knowledge, with a view to taking measures and making adjustments to help improve the working environment.
This system has already been rolled out in the Actiu Technology Park, as well as its two LEED and WELL platinum certifications, which make it the world's first industrial building to have been awarded both, making it a healthy and sustainable space, now parameterised, that safeguards the well-being of employees and those in the surrounding environment.
Specifically, each of the sensors installed in the workstations captures real-time information on temperature, humidity, sound, light and human presence, while the devices in the open areas record the air quality, in other words, the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) as well as airborne particles or particulate matter (PM 2.5 and PM 10). These parameters determine whether the environment should be ventilated more frequently. Devices have also been installed in the meeting rooms that allow the occupancy rate of each room to be checked.
All this information from this pilot project is processed by a series of algorithms that Gaia by Actiu® converts into efficiency, well-being and occupancy ratios. The employee-oriented mobile application also lets employees search for and book spaces, rate these environments, report issues and consult content related to health and well-being.
Gaia brings about a change of mentality and a new era. Over the last fifty or so years, Actiu has grown and evolved along with its customers, designing, manufacturing and providing them with the products they need to equip and configure their spaces.
However, these requirements are no longer just about products and solutions; they are also about services. Gaia came about as a direct result of listening and understanding what users and spaces need to be more sustainable, efficient, collaborative and healthy; and the answer lies in technology.
